3D technical illustrators create visual diagrams and schematics of technical information for non-technical audiences to better understand a given device’s detailed operation. CraneDigital has been creating technical illustrations and diagrams showing how certain machines work for many years. Applications for such imagery include drawings and diagrams of new products being submitted for patents, and marketing teams introducing products in a unique, visually creative way.
Joining Your Team
It’s important for 3d technical illustrators to be able to work closely with S.M.E.’s (Subject Matter Experts) and engineers to ensure accurate representation of any given piece of equipment or process. CraneDigital joins your project on a freelance basis, “as needed” by organizations or independent entrepreneurs, to fulfill this crucial step in portraying your device in easily understandable terms to a technical or non-technical audience.
CAD Data or No CAD Data
CraneDigital’s 3d technical illustrator capabilities allow working with CAD data sets supplied by clients to ensure perfect accuracy of any object already designed and engineered. If the object is already in the computer there’s no need to re-create it using 3D modeling.
If, however, no CAD or engineering work has been completed we can also create 3D models of virtually any object from reference photographs, diagrams, technical drawings and schematics. Adding unique camera angles, ghosting away exterior portions goes a long way to reveal important details about your design, if that is your goal. This allows us to take virtually any starting point you have and produce unique, beautiful, one-of-a-kind custom imagery for your marketing and communications needs.
It may also be important to protect your intellectual property by selectively showing only what you wish others to see. 3d technical illustrators have an advantage to photography because it’s easy to simply hide or reveal any portion of a 3d model you wish.
The image below was modeled from 2-dimensional technical drawings, not 3D CAD data. No 3D CAD data existed for this device, yet it was important to produce a plausible, detailed version of the machine for animation purposes.
Life-Long Education in Art
Coming from extensive education and training in art theory, color theory, composition, lighting principles, photography techniques and a degree in graphic design we occupy a unique niche. CAD software can generate renderings of products, but these renderings are often limited in aesthetic value due to the software’s limited capabilities, and – the CAD engineers lack of artistic training.
Combining a life-long education and training in the arts with advanced technical aptitude, extreme attention to detail, a mature business sense and utmost commitment to your project assures top quality results when you call CraneDigital. We have 30 years experience working with clients from large, multi-national organizations to small, independent entrepreneurs. We’ve had experience with numerous best-in-class tools and have chosen the very best 3D modeling and rendering software.
